LA County MTA - Bus Charging Stations

We installed electric vehicle charging stations at three locations to help reduce bus emissions.

Value Delivered

For the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA), Dynalectric L.A. installed one of the first electric vehicle (EV) bus charging stations on the West Coast.

Our services helped the LACMTA transition to a more sustainable, zero-emission EV bus fleet and reduce environmental pollution caused by diesel-powered buses.

We were able to meet a variety of demanding coordination requirements caused by changes in the development of the charging system during construction, and minimal product information on a German-engineered system.

Our pantograph charging solution eliminates the need for a manual cord and plug attachment and increases charging capabilities, which helps LACMTA reduce charging times for their fleet.

Client Objectives

The LACMTA was transitioning to electric buses to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and offer a clean energy alternative to diesel-powered buses, and they needed installation of EV charging stations.

Solutions

In addition to installing 800-amp charging units that required 3000-amp utility service, Dynalectric L.A. received, unloaded, set, and fastened all associated switchgear, chargers, and charger masts. We performed all work while the stations remained active, at three locations simultaneously.
